Marine Watertight Doors are different from weathertight doors. If your doors are going to be used one of the conditions below, you can choose watertight doors. (a) Watertight doors shall be provided at the lower water level during the final water intake stage; weathertight doors may be provided at other locations. (b) A notice -Keep closed at sea- should be posted on both sides of the door. (c) For cargo ships, type A ships with a length of 50 m and above and type B ships with reduced mains, hinged watertight doors may be provided between the engine room and the steering gear space, but the door sill shall be higher than the summer load water line . (d) The door must be closed before sailing. (e) If the door is accessible while navigating, it must be provided with means to prevent unauthorized opening.
